Developer Magpie Games provided an update to Avatar Legends, confirming that due to paper shortage, the game will be released later.

Avatar Legends is a crowdfunding tabletop role-playing game with "Avatar: The Last Airbender" as the background. It will be discontinued in early 2022.

Announced via the game’s official Kickstarter page, developer Magpie Games confirmed that the product will now be launched in the summer of 2022. According to the post published by the studio, the supply chain shortage is the cause of the delay. Magpie Games said: "After a lot of digging and searching, we regret to say that we need to delay when you will receive a physical copy of the game just because of the amount of printed materials." 200,000 books — plus hundreds of thousands of journals, cards, and dice — will take longer than usual. But even without these shortages, this is just a very, very large number of books! Even our printers weekly More than 10,000 books have been produced... it will take months to print all these books!"

Although it has never been clearly stated, the huge success of the "Avatar Legends" crowdfunding campaign may surprise Magpie Games. This RPG raised a total of US$9,535,317, which greatly exceeded its original goal of US$50,000 and continued to set the record for the highest-funded role-playing game on Kickstarter.

"We apologize for the delay in shipment. We know this is not ideal, and we are sad that we cannot let the miracle happen," Magpie Games continued. "Sometimes the journey takes longer than you planned. Although we know that you are all amazing, we hope you know that we are very grateful for your patience and kindness, because we are always trying to get you to finish the book as soon as possible. Although the physical copy of the game will only be released in mid-2022, the complete digital version of the rulebook will be available to all supporters in February 2022.

Avatar Legends is built on the support provided by the Apocalypse system, allowing fans to tell and play with their own adventures set in their beloved universe. Game masters can set up their games at different times throughout the show's timeline, including Kyoshi's Era, Aang's Era, and Korra's Era, and players can play bold and adventurous roles inspired by the prototypes of TV series characters. This system allows fans to create element benders or focus their strengths on standard combat abilities, such as martial arts or swordsmanship.
